If I Die Young Lyrical analysis

The analysis if "If I Die Young" by The Band Perry. The entire song in itself is a metaphor. A young woman believes that people only really get noticed once they are dead. This song talks about what she and the people around would go through if she were to, in quoting the song, die young.
The song uses Metonymy to talk about the girls funeral. "Send me away to the words of a love song", it means that the words spoken as she is buried are filled with love and longing. This line is repeated several times. Another line that is repeated a lot is, "the sharp knife of a short life". This is a metaphor because it is saying that a life cut short is always the most painful. Another metaphor in the song is "I'll be wearing white when I come into your kingdom". She is talking to God saying that she will be in heaven where everything is perfect. A paradox that is included is "what I never did is done" she is saying that what she never got never will be.
"A penny for my thoughts, oh no, I'll sell 'em for a dollar
They're worth so much more after I'm a goner
And maybe then you'll hear the words I been singin'
Funny when you're dead how people start listenin' "
This whole stanza is the whole songs purpose, this is why she is talking about dieing young, so she can get noticed and people will listen to her and not just brush her away, because you never know how much time you have.
This song is perfectly balanced in its music. If it were any faster and it would ruin the message of don;t underestimate life. If it were to be any slower it would make the song to sad and depressing. It is also very good to music in general because when you just read it, it sounds like a suicide note and that was note the goal of this song.

Diary For the French Revolution

Dear Diary,
The rebellion is getting worse! I do not know what to do. My parents say to stay out of the fight and let things take its course, that the King and his men will come out victorious, like they should. I am not so sure. There are less and less people who support the Monarchy everyday, more people are going against the King. Even my cousins are rebelling. I do not know who to believe. I know that if I was to join the rebellion and we lost, I would surly be put to death, but if I join and we win, then we are free from the rule of a King who only wants more money and power.
I would surly would not be an active fighter for I have seen things that give me nightmares for weeks. Neither side cares about who is in the cross fire of the fighting. My best friend, Ella, was shot and killed less than three days ago, and I miss her terribly. No one knows who shot her, it was absolute chaos. I do believe that for the time being I will not give my support for either side, I wish to live for me and for the life Ella.
    For ever yours
         Joie.
